Professional team

Our team of professional translators and editors consists of philologists with a university level linguistic education and specialists in other fields with at least 5 years working experience, but most of our specialists have more than 10 years of working experience. Please contact us for more information about our experience in any specific translation area.

Web-based project management system

Our web-based project management system utilises a database run in a network server to ensure real time monitoring for all required service stages. The system also ensures the most efficient workflow planning for the specialists related to the service. In addition to quality this means greater turnover speed, which is a key factor for many of our customers.

Confidentiality

We always follow the principles of the strictest confidentiality. Our customers are welcome to conclude with us a non-disclosure agreement and/or regular customer agreement as required by the customer.

PROOFREADING AND EDITING

Proofreading

Good text conveys the meaning clearly and unambiguously, it is orthographically and grammatically correct.
Proofreading can actually precede translation when the source text is not quite clearly understandable. It is particularly important to highlight the need for checking the source text when it will be used for publication by any means.
Good results are guaranteed by repeatedly reviewing the text. Proofreading is always done by a different competent person, not the translator of the text.

Editing

High quality text is achieved by closely linked proofreading and editing. Editing involves checking that the translation corresponds to the source text, verifying the terminology (content editing), wording, phrasing, style etc. (linguistic editing).
We can also provide proofreading and editing as separate services.

Repeated reviewing –
assured quality

In the case of a formatted text the primary proofreading and editing are done with the so-called work files, then the text is formatted according to the existing design/layout or a new one is created for the project.
After this stage the text needs to be reviewed again. As agreed with the customer we will also implement any required corrections and additions to the translation memory and termbase.
In case there are any changes to the text after the design and layout stage, the design service fees will be added to the proofreading cost on a timed basis.
Final pre-release review is always done before the materials are delivered to the client.
In case the text is to be printed we always recommend ordering a pre-print verification. This will be many times cheaper for the client than having the materials printed again. This service is included in the package when ordering full service (translation, design/layout, and printing).xt.

CAT TOOLS

Meaning and usage
Translation memory or TM is an accumulation of translation units called segments containing interlinked sentence pairs in the source and target languages created by translator(s).

The primary aims of TM use are:

  • Faster translation process
  • Unified terminology use
  • Savings created by using existing translation segments.

Thanks to using a TM the client can also rest assured that any text units that have been verified and/or confirmed before will remain unchanged in the following translations. When the translation bureau has suggestions about any text previously translated elsewhere, then any changes are nevertheless only implemented after they are approved by the client.

AD 3DOORS is using the internationally acclaimed translation memory tool SDL Trados Studio. In the course of various translation projects we have gained the experience of working with other TM tools as well (SDLX, Star Transit, Logoport, etc.)

Maintaining text formatting
An additional advantage of using TM tools is their capability to maintain the formatting as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The project managers in AD 3DOORS work closely with the design and layout specialists all through the translation process. The design specialists take care of preparing and formatting the text for translation and after that ensure that the text is reformatted and the required design/layout applied. Text tends to get longer in translation, but we see to it that it fits to the required layout; if necessary we find the right font when there are no corresponding fonts in the target language (which is a frequent problem with RU, LV and LT texts) and check that any other technical terms are met.

Savings from design/layout
TM tools enable our customers save money, because TM units retain their previous formatting. We must only allow for the lengthening common to translated texts. In case you have an earlier design/layout and only you need a translation, or when a service provider demands an excessively high design fee, then we recommend asking us for a comparative price quote.

FAQ

We need to have the text of a brochure translated into four languages (Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian) and then printed. We have the previous design and layout. Would that be possible?
Yes, naturally. First we will translate the content while retaining the existing formatting. Then we will do the design and layout, and all the necessary stages up to preparations for printing. Then we will do the printing and deliver the brochures in all four languages to the required destination.

We have a particularly large technical text that is constantly updated and it is very important that the established terms are used consistently. Would that be possible?
Yes, it is. We use a special translation memory tool for translating technical texts. Translators will get the necessary instructions and all your terminology will be saved in the translation memory as part of the translation process. The same translation memory will be used for any consequent orders you place with us and will be updated with the new translations.

This way you can be assured that terminological consistency of the required material is always guaranteed. Using the translation memory will also enable us to give you a discount for the repeated text units and the following texts will be completed faster.

We need to translate a very large text, but we only have a week. We have an earlier translation memory and we would not like the existing terminology changed. Would it be possible to translate as quickly as possible with the terminology we have been using?
Yes, it is possible. In such a situation we would involve several translators who will translate the text simultaneously online by using our translation memory server and the translation memory you send. This way we could ensure that the large project would be finished in time without any fear that the quality might suffer.
